Exhibition catalogue: Ana ziqquratim

Complementing the ongoing exhibition “ana ziqquratim” in Strasbourg, the exhibition catalogue is published, where I was able to contribute a small article about the White Temple of Uruk. It is in French (thank you very much for the translation!), but the catalogue is worth a look. On 287 pages you will find over 30 articles concerning the topic of Ancient Near Eastern architecture and especially ziggurats. The exhibition is still ongoing and you can see it between the 27th of April and the 21st of June 2016 in Strasbourg: Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire de Strasbourg, 6 place de la République, 67000 Strasbourg.

You can see a short video about the exhibition here: http://utv.unistra.fr/index.php?id_video=761
The official website is here: http://pbabel.u-strasbg.fr/

Upcoming exhibition: ana ziqquratim (Strasbourg)

Between the 27th of April and the 21st of June 2016 there will be an exhibition on ziggurats in Strasbourg (France). We were happy to provide two animations for this exhibtion, where you can see the Anu Ziggurat and the Eanna Ziggurat in detail besides other visualisations of ziggurats. If you have the possibility, please check out the exhibition. It was created by the students of the University of Strasbourg. I highly recommend it.

Presentation: Architectural Reconstructions as a scientific tool

Between the 25th and 29th of April 2016 the 10th International Congress on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East (ICAANE) is held in Vienna, Austria. There is a section called “Images in Context: Agency, Audiences & Perception” where I will present a talk about Architectural Reconstructions as a scientific tool. You can find the program and abstracts on the official website.

If you are following us and going to the ICAANE this year, I would be glad if you come by and say hello.

Published: Les Cahiers Science & Vie

The current issue of the French magazine “Les Cahiers Science & Vie: Histoire et Civilisations” features two of our reconstructions of Uruk. On the bottom left you can see the reconstruction of Architectural Layer 8 and on the bottom right you’ll see the Eanna ziggurat of the Ur-III period. The issue is dedicated to the rise and the necessity of cities during the emergence of civilisations. You can check out their website here.

Published: Archäologie Weltweit 1/2015

In the current issue of the German magazine “Archäologie Weltweit”, one of our reconstructions of the Oxus Temple is featured! The project of the Oxus Temple is not online on our website yet, but we will change that soon. You can have a look at the magazine for free here.

Presentation at the Humboldt University in Berlin

I will present a talk at the upcoming archeoworks 3 at the Humboldt University in Berlin on the 10th of May. The topic is Digital Archaeology and how archaeologists can use 3D software to visualise scientific results. I will present examples from Mari and Uruk. The talk will be in the lecture hall 2094, starts at 2 pm, last roughly one hour and be in German. If you are there, come by and say hi!
